To Our Clients- We understand that the COVID-19/coronavirus has caused unprecedented issues throughout our community and the world. We also understand that our clients already had their own worlds turned upside down due to either a work or personal injury. Our office remains open and available to speak with you; however, most staff are doing so remotely.
Due to these circumstances the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission has suspended live hearings and provided only minimal access for the time being. We understand this will cause delays and frustration for all injured workers in the State of Illinois. We continue to work hard on your case to make sure you receive all Workers’ Compensation benefits and will continue to provide you with the best legal representation possible and will update our clients on any changes when they are announced by the Commission.
Similarly, the Courthouses in Cook, Will, Grundy, Kane, DuPage and other counties have suspended court hearings and jury trials for at least 30 days- some until June 1. Fortunately, the attorneys will be able to continue to conduct depositions telephonically or by videoconference so cases can continue. We will update our website if that date changes.
As you know, this is an unprecedented time. In order to protect our staff and follow the recommendations of health experts, the staff of Block, Klukas, Manzella & Shell, P.C. is working from home. We have always been on the cutting edge of technology so our staff and attorneys can continue to provide top notch legal representation. We are able to quickly respond to new client inquiries and conduct telephonic meetings.
If you leave us a voicemail, or it takes us a little longer to return your call, please know that we are working hard and will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Please visit www.blocklaw.com for our contact information. If you have any questions click on our contact us (link?) page and you can email the attorneys directly or email info@blocklaw.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Stay safe and healthy. We are here for you.
If you have been emotionally or physically injured or your property has been damaged, this falls under personal injury law. These laws are designed to ensure the injured party receives compensation for the damages due to another individual’s negligence, actions, recklessness or carelessness.
You should report the injury immediately to your employer. If you cannot reach an agreement with your employer or their insurance carrier, as to what benefits or medical expense payments you are entitled to, you can file your claim with the Industrial Commission.
Wrongful death is the term used when someone causes the death of another person. The death may be caused by the actions of someone or by their failure to act (neglect). Wrongful death is a civil action rather than a criminal action.
